ArtiGussy is a one-man instrumentalist, vocalist, and songwriter from Lyon, France. His music recalls John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Boy Least Likely and many other great artists. Lyrically clever, and rich with variety, each song plays harmonically on the ear. ArtiG. knows how to strum a uke and tinkle the ivories as well. He infuses gobs of rich instrumentation from a variety of sources to make each song unique. Check out some of his selections from SoundCloud. I’m particularly fond of “Simply Stare” and “Bitter Sweets”.
Discovered RDTR Productions on Cloudkillers and was blown away at how much fun the music was. Most of it is labeled Hip-Hop on Soundcloud, but this is unlike any hip-hop I’ve ever heard. Take a listen to these two tracks to discover for yourself.
This track takes you up up up. Really good trance.
Seattle artist Jon Joslin’s music feels moody, solemn, fleshy and poignant. He seriously needs more SoundCloud followers. This awesome stuff is just waiting for an audience.
The Consultants have a smooth groove using mostly acoustic and electric guitars and drums. Each song in this set provides a nice mood that is a little rough around the edges. Some of it flows into the areas of bizarre and twisted as well.
Seattle-based two man (Braxton Wittenburg and Chris Klose) electro-rock band, Light’s On Why, has a cool groove and every song they have is catchy, edgy and moody. Download their latest album on bandcamp and become a fan on Facebook.
This guy, Lapis Lazu, is very original, comedic, quirky, odd. A little Tiny Tim, a little Laurie Anderson, a little Weird Al. His music is bouncy, odd, disturbing and unique. I love it!
One of the tracks shown above is about peppermint and the other is about spitting a dental filling into a drink and then visiting Sue at the hospital. Talk about original lyrics.
I caught the Legendary Oaks when they played for a short film benefit at Rebar (my favorite dive event bar) in Seattle. They play Americana, folksy music and they play it well. Check out their album on Bandcamp and SoundCloud and Like them on Facebook or don’t and suffer the consequences.
Ultramundane has really engaging, trippy, dreamy music. This song is full of hypnotic soundscapes. And it’s available for free download (at this time).
“You blocked me on Facebook and now you are going to die!” Energetic beats with iPhone ring tones. Aboudi has amazing tracks. This track is 36 minutes long full of awesome stuff. Download it for free (at time of this posting).
I discovered fellow Seattleite Ralph Buckley on SoundCloud today. He’s like John Lennon mixed with Negativland. Quirky, talented and right up my alley. Here’s a sweet little ditty. Check out his stuff on SoundCloud.
